“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Thanksgiving Message From The Premier Ponds Team:
The Premier Ponds Team is thankful for having the opportunity to serve the Maryland, Virginia and DC metro area over the past 16 years and looking forward to many more years to come. Building custom ponds, waterfalls and backyard renovations continues to be our passion. This year, the team decided to reflect on some of the key things to be thankful for and decided to share them with you. Although we love everything water related, we promise we do have lives outside of building ponds. You’ll see that there were 2 main themes among the team which are opportunity and family. Check it out!
Opportunity to Serve Others:
Premier Ponds has gotten to live “The Dream” for the past 16 years and as you can imagine, it’s all possible because of you, the customer. Now, at the sake of sounding cliche, we’re serious! And this all came to fruition back in August when we held our customer appreciation event. Believe it or not, the last time we put on a customer appreciation event (back in 2014), we could count the number of clients that showed up on 2 hands. Full disclosure, we were a bit nervous to put another one on because of this. This time, over 100 people showed up! And a lot of people showed up at the beginning and stayed the entire 3 hours. So the opportunity to not only be invited into your home and create this paradise that we love but also have you all show up to our home and enjoy the afternoon with us was beyond amazing.
We started spending the first 30 minutes of every Monday having an internal meeting, and not just about how to dig the best pond. A member of the team gets up each week and presents on a topic. Some of these include:
- What being honest with yourself means
- What is your most difficult goal this year and how do you accomplish it?
- How do you value your health?
Discussions like these bring us together closer as a team and the synergy of the crew was apparent by the number of people that showed up.
A lot of our clients get water features for one main reason; they want to spend more time with their family. Whether it’s having the ability to not have an excuse to work late or to get your family together around the pond, we totally get the rationale. Why?
We’re also very thankful for our families. Each one of us draws a lot of strength from our home lives. So to our families if you’re reading this, thank you for always being there for us. And we’re sorry we come home pretty smelly everyday during cleaning season!
Hear It From The Guys:
I’ve thought about this for a long time, I’m 60 years old, and I think I’ve got it nailed down. I’m really thankful that I was born in a set of circumstances and set of the right cards in my deck, to help me succeed in life. It’s easy for me to think of someone that has less than what I have and call them lazy, but I don’t really know their circumstance. I don’t know what deck of cards they were dealt in their life.
I have a set of parents that love me and I have 7 siblings. We didn’t have much money but my parents made sure that I had everything that I needed. I was pretty good at sports and I got into college which opened up a few more doors for me that others might not have the opportunity to go through. So I’m thankful for all those in my life that are responsible for getting me to where I am today. I definitely couldn’t have done it all by myself. And for that, I am thankful.
Among the many things that are quite obvious:
- Great people around me
- Good team and good clients
The thing I’m most grateful for, no matter what I do, whether it’s screw up or do something great, I can come home to my 3 daughters and I am their superman.
This year, I’m thankful for opportunity. What I mean by that is that I love the opportunity to be a part of this business and be a co-owner now! I’m thankful for the opportunity to work with the guys on the Premier team. They’re a lot of fun and each one of them has their own quirks and it’s awesome. (If you want to know more about these quirks, watch some of our videos!)
Also, working for you, the client, is great. Trust me, I don’t take it lightly that you allow us into your yard to do what we do. I know what it’s like to invite someone into my home that I don’t know and it’s amazing how we’re treated.
The one thing in particular that I’m thankful for is my niece. She’s my favorite thing in the world and I love going to have lunch and dinners with her. We hang out and I get to see her in school. I’d say my favorite thing, out of everything we do together, is to ride around in the car and listen to music together.
There’s nothing better than her in the backseat signing and dancing and having a fun time! I love music as well so I’d say that just makes it that much better!
I walk a little bit of a different path in life (such as living in a car). This gives me a way different perspective than most such as appreciating the small things and not sweat the bigs ones as much. Especially if there’s a job site that’s cold and dirty, I love it and I love everybody around me. I’m really looking forward to great perspective again next year.
Among all the things, I would like to say that I’m thankful for the opportunity to work with Premier Ponds. I had worked with the team a few years ago very lightly (not full-time) but this summer I finally came on full-time. It has been great ever since.
Everybody has been very helpful and helping me learn. Sometimes as the new guy, it’s a bit hard to pick things up on the fly sometimes but everyone has been very patient with me and help me with everything I need. I’ve come a long way and they’ve given me every opportunity to expand. So the faith that they’ve invested in me is what I’m thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving To You and Your Loved Ones!
Once again, from all of us here, at Premier Ponds, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
