Washington, D.C.: Pond Renovation, Construction and Maintenance

Living in the Washington, D.C. metro area is one of the reasons that Premier Ponds has done well as a pond company. Between the chaos that is 495-traffic or listening to the constant bickering that happens amongst politicians in what feels like our backyard, DC residents love to get away. And when we say get away we don’t necessarily mean hopping on a plane and taking a vacation; we’re talking about a daily vacation next to your pond.

The Challenges Of Building A Pond In DC

Well there is one big part of the process that we have to focus on and that is the logistics of actually building the pond. As you know, the parking situation in many DC neighborhoods can be a nightmare. Now throw in two extended pickup trucks that we need tailgate access to and that makes it a challenge. And think, you don’t want to be hauling heavy materials two blocks up the street because not only is that going to extend the length of the project, it’s also going to be an added calf-workout. So when we come to your house, we need to make sure we can park.

Also, we both know what traffic is like trying to get to the job so it might take a bit longer for us to get there. We always start our Mondays by having our 8:30am meeting. After that, we load up the trucks and we’re off. This means we most likely will not get there until closer to 10am. Some contracting businesses work very early and try to beat traffic. We’re the opposite where we come after morning rush hour.

Biophilia Hypothesis

See, there’s this scientific term called Biophilia hypothesis which is the suggestion that humans seek a connection with nature. Humans have the urge to affiliate with other forms of life and when you live in DC, where it’s a hustle and bustle city, that urge doesn’t always get filled. This is where ponds and water features come in.

Imagine coming home to escape the craziness of your DC life with a pond.

Ms. Geer needed a full pond cleaning in her Silver Spring home. After some careful vetting, she went with Premier Ponds. Not only did she clean it, but she also renovated it into exactly what she wanted!

Urban Gardens: DC’s Hidden Gems

An Urban Garden is in essence a garden that has to conform to a small space. This ties back to the Biophilia hypothesis where even in a city, humans want to feel that nature connection.
